TUBAN, MCE – In a significant move toward modernizing local transportation and supporting elderly workers, the Regent of Tuban (Bupati), Aditya Halindra Faridzky, SE—affectionately known as Mas Lindra—officially distributed 100 units of electric pedicabs (Becak Listrik) on Monday, December 29, 2025.
The distribution, held at the Pendapa Kridha Manunggal, is a collaborative initiative between the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, the National Solidarity Movement Foundation (YGSN), and the Tuban regional leadership (Forkopimda).
The program specifically targets pedicab drivers aged 60 and above. President Prabowo’s primary goal is to alleviate the physical burden on elderly breadwinners, allowing them to continue supporting their families with greater ease and efficiency.
"This policy is highly beneficial and will help drive the family-level economy. It transforms conventional manual labor into a modern, tech-driven livelihood," stated Mas Lindra.
Key Highlights of the Initiative:
- Technological Adaptation: The electric pedicabs serve as a bridge to eco-friendly technology, making the recipients pioneers of green transport in Tuban.
- Domestic Production: Major General (Ret.) Firman Dahlan of YGSN confirmed that the vehicles are locally manufactured and funded personally by President Prabowo.
- Sustainability: Recipients are strictly prohibited from selling, renting out, or transferring ownership of the units.
To ensure the program’s long-term success, the Tuban Regency Government has outlined several follow-up steps:
1. Administrative Support: Assisting drivers with necessary documentation.
2. Route Management: Strategically planning routes to ensure electric pedicabs complement, rather than conflict with, existing conventional pedicab routes.
3. Standardized Pricing: Conducting studies to set fair tariffs so drivers can secure a steady customer base.
4. Infrastructure: Establishing dedicated battery charging stations across the regency.
5. Tourism Synergy: Integrating electric pedicabs into local tourism hubs to enhance the visitor experience.
Mas Lindra took the opportunity to thank President Prabowo for his continuous support through various national programs in Tuban, including the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program and the "Sekolah Rakyat" initiative.
